John Coltrane

Blue Train Album Cover (9K)

Coltrane is perhaps a story all to himself, one of jazz's most evocative, strange, and incredible creators, Coltrane's work is deeply rooted in it's connection to religion and the religious texts.

Coltrane's music in its full blown developement is nothing short of breathtaking, and at the same time, strange, different, separated from the sounds one is used to hear.

This new voice, and the power of the music Coltrane created makes him, in my eyes, one of the greatest jazz musicians ever.

Like Miles, Coltrane's body of work is immense in any scale, but these are three excellent albums that I like in particular:

Charles Mingus
Miles Davis
John Coltrane
Branford Marsalis
